Scott and I have been together for 8 years and during this time Scott has made me an uncountable number of mixed CD’s of beautiful music. It was a always such a nice surprise and something I very much looked forward to. Sometimes the CD’s would arrive via mail, tucked under the windshield wiper on my car, in a card, or waiting for me on the kitchen table. These CD’s have become snap shots of our journey as a couple and capture significant moments in our lives. I am grateful for the memories we share through music. Even though I consider myself to be musically challenged (I couldn’t sing well to save my life!) and Scott to be musically gifted we have been able to share so much through songs.
Well, tonight we took a little trip down memory lane, recalling our lives at the time each song made its way on to one of my mixed CD’s. We sang along like a couple of love struck nerds, laughed, and found some hidden gems that had been long forgotten. I have compiled some of my favorites and hope you enjoy :)

Happy Monday!
I am 25 years old, but I swear I have the sleeping pattern of an 80-year-old. I fall asleep early and tend to get up earlier than most people my age. I have fallen asleep in the middle of full blown parties (seriously, ask my friends, this is sadly true), I can fall asleep sitting up, on planes, and always during movies (a sure fire way to make me fall asleep at night). My body has some sort of weird internal clock that automatically tells my eyes to close and my mind to drift off to sleep, even when I try and fight it. My internal sleep-o-meter always wins.
However, it is shortly after 11pm, clearly way past my bedtime, and I am awake. Shock. This is because Scott and I just got back from watching a great acoustic show at Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach. We got to spend some time with friends, and take in the tunes of great artists such as: Matt Duke, Tony Lucca, and Jay Nash. It really was a wonderful Sunday evening. Out of the norm from my sweat pants and baggy t-shirts and has given me the energy to brush off my usual bedtime.
This is short lived though because I am going to finish this sentence, brush my teeth, and then fall asleep instantly upon hitting my pillow.
Happy Sunday!
Today’s Plan:
- UPS delivers my new camera by 3pm
- Get really excited because my camera is here
- Open Camera
- Have fun taking some photots
- Leave at 3:30 to drive to San Francisco to watch our friends, Lady Danville play at Cafe Du Nord
- Take sides streets out of LA to beat traffic
- Long, leasurly car ride with Scott to San Fran
- Watch Lady Danville play an awesome set
- Hang out in San Fran with the boys of Lady D after
- Sleep
How today actually went:
- Camera arrives at 3:15
- Got really excited that my new camera arrived! :)
- No time to open…haven’t packed, yikes!
- A frenzy of phone calls making any task tricky
- Leave at 3:40 to head up to San Fran
- Pit stop at LAX to drop off a friend who needed a last minute ride to the ariport
- Get semi lost trying to take back roads out of LA
- Sit in traffic for 2 hours and then we finally reach the 5 North
- Admit defeat and realize that unless our car spontaneously turns into a hovercraft with a jet pack strapped to it, we are never going to make it to the Lady Danville show on time
- Exit freeway and turn around
- Eat at random, but yummy, Southern BBQ food at a place called Willy’s
- Start to drive home
- Sit in more traffic
- And I think Scott is already asleep
So, today ended up to be slightly different than originally planned and I am bummed we didn’t get to see our friends show, but it has been a great night. Gotta love rollin’ with the punches :)
Also, just because we didn’t get to enjoy the sweet sounds of Lady Danville doesn’t mean you shouldn’t. Make sure to check them out on myspace AND you can even vote to send them to South by Southwest next year which would be super awesome. Happy Friday!
